In 1957, A decade after India's independence, like minded intellectuals, thinkers, educators and social workers agreed to counsel upon and creating a charitable and philanthropic organisation that would go above and beyond the basic needs of people, especially rural India, and provide the residents of village the education and the creative potential they need to develop their community and ultimately the republic.
The meet initiated the would-be-members to form a council, which later on became the General Assembly of the FGF of India. The General Assembly included teachers, elders, pastors, educators, doctors, social workers, agricultural workers and people from many other fields.
The General Assembly paved way for the Executive Committee, which, after much counselling and deliberation decided to form an Organisation under The Societies' Registration Act of India, 1860.
And so it started, the humble beginning of an Organisation which was eventually named the FGF of India, which became a registered society in the year 1958.
